Introduction

Hey there, future web developer! Are you ready to jump right into the deep end of an exciting world of web development? Then you’re in the right place as we’re about to embark on a thrilling ride through lines of code, colorful designs, and endless possibilities, and hopefully give you the creativity spurt to get you well on your way to creating bespoke websites.

What Actually Is Web Development?

At its core, web development is like baking a digital cake. You gather the ingredients (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), mix them together, and voilà—a beautiful website emerges! Whether you’re crafting a personal blog (like this top quality one), an e-commerce platform, or the next big social app, web development is your creative canvas - your creativity is near limitless. I cannot stress enough on how wordpress is not web development, nor is wix, weebly and squarespace. They are the equivalent of using scratch and saying you are a game developer, or using canva and saying you’re a seasoned graphic designer.

DO NOT USE THESE AND TAKE THE TITLE OF WEB DEV!

Why Choose Web Development?

1. Creativity Unleashed

Imagine being an artist with a keyboard. You get to choose fonts, colors, and layouts. Want a neon-pink button that jumps around when you click it? Go for it! The web is your playground, and creativity knows no bounds.

2. Constant Learning Adventure

Web development is like a never-ending treasure hunt. New tools, libraries, and frameworks pop up faster than you can say “Hello World!” (Brownie points if you have seen this phrase before!) Embrace the learning process—it’s like leveling up in your favourite video game - without the limiting of mechanics to make things more fair for others. Here you are encouraged to be better than everyone else using any mechanic you can!

3. Problem-Solving Missions

Every line of code is a puzzle waiting to be solved. Debugging? It’s your Sherlock Holmes moment. Optimizing performance? Consider it your superhero mission. Each victory brings you closer to web mastery. Fun Fact - A computer bug is called a bug because the first ever computer bug was created by a real physical bug!

4. Community Help (We all love each other)

Explore the internet, especially stack overflow. If you have an issue with coding, more than likely someone else has had it before, or at least something similar - and with this, a lot of the time they have asked on stack overflow and have received many different answers which will also benefit you!

How to Get Started

1. Learn the Basics:

HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are the foundations to your success. Dive straight onto websites that show you basics such as “W3 Schools”. Trust me, they’re way more exciting than they sound! This rogue method is 10x better than sitting in online tutorials and bootcamps for hours on end, and you also get to mess around on your own and create great things!

2. Choose Your Path:

Frontend or backend? Both are essential. Frontend devs create what users see, while backend devs handle the behind-the-scenes magic.

3. Build, Build and more Build:

Start small. Create a personal website, a portfolio, or a meme site such as a fake RAM downloader (who doesn’t want more RAM). The more you build, the more confident you’ll become, and in turn the better your sites will be.

4. Stay Curious:

Explore frameworks like React, Vue.js, or Angular. Learn about databases, APIs, and deployment. Curiosity is your best friend.

Conclusion

So, dear future spider (web pun there), grab your keyboard, sip your favourite beer (mine’s Desperados), and let’s code our way to the top of google. Whether you’re a seasoned developer or a curious newbie, the web awaits your magic touch.

Happy coding to the worlds newest web dev! 🕸️
